Ellen and the Escapades – free gig in Cheltenham

Date: Friday, 26 March 2010
Time: 19:30 – 23:30
Location: Conservatory cafe bar, Winchcombe Street, Cheltenham.

Alternative folk band Ellen and the Escapades released their first single ‘Without You’ last year on their home-grown record label ‘Branch Out Records’. The single was played by Steve Lamacq on BBC Radio 2, and Tom Robinson on BBC Radio 6.

The band have managed to create a sound that oozes nostalgia, without being outdated. Being highly influenced by legendary folk acts such as Bob Dylan and Carole King, as well as contemporary indie acts like The Coral and Cat Power, Ellen and the Escapades have found a happy medium with their tight, down to earth, organic sound.

Last summer they toured Switzerland and played the BBC Introducing stage at Leeds and Reading Festivals.
